SPR# DJOE6BSGYG - Added the option to send "Windows-friendly" attachments, which do not include the resource fork. This prevents the server from sending two MIME blocks for each Mac file, which could confuse mail clients (like hotmail).

Problem:
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# DJOE6BSGYG and was
addressed in 6.5.5.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.5.5 MR fix list (available at
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):

Editor
SPR# DJOE6BSGYG - Added the option to send "Windows-friendly" attachments,
which do not include the resource fork. This prevents the server from sending
two MIME blocks for each Mac file, which could confuse mail clients (like
hotmail).

Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading Notes/Domino.

The problem does not occur in 7.0.

Workaround:
There is a new Notes preferences (the Macintosh equivalent of notes.ini)
parameter which will send "Windows-friendly" attachments. Activate this
preference in one of the following ways:

Using the Notes Preferences Editor, choose Item -> Add. "Name:" should be
"pcfriendly_attachments" and "Value:" should be "1".

See "Notes preference editor for Notes 6.x and Mac OS X" (Document# 4005829 []
), for more information on acquiring and working with the Notes Preferences
Editor.

In the Notes client, create a new memo and click in the body field. Choose File
-> Attach. Note the option at the bottom:

"Create Windows-friendly attachment".

Select this option, choose a file to attach, and click "Create". This setting
has been added to the Notes Preferences file so that Windows-friendly
attachments are sent by default (including through drag-and-drop). You can
discard the memo that results from this process.
